Freddie Mac is a shareholder-owned corporation, chartered by the United States Congress in 1970 to create a continuous flow of funds to mortgage lenders in support of home ownership and rental housing. In May of 2001, Freddie Mac broke ground on its new 80,000 square feet Southwest Region office in the Austin Ranch development in near Dallas, Texas. The new building houses a 2,500 square- foot data center and two telecommunication closets. The typical work area consists of one voice/split (Category 3 cable) outlet and two data (Category 5E) outlets.
